What hooked me is that the plot followed in the wake of William Wallace's death. I liked the historical references and surrounding idea of a rebel Scottish elite force akin to modern-day SEALS or Tactical. Yet the love story didn't entice me. The hero just two-dimensional (and both dimensions have no depth) and the heroine, though some spark, not given enough circumstance with which to prove it.
Loved the perspective of Robert de Bruce.
