Climbing Stories

I love politics & I am a bit of a history buff. I have a weakness for romance & that includes erotic smut! I'm a serious reviewer, but I can read almost anything. A new genre or a deft writer can make a story sing.

3 stars for storyline and unique heroine

This book should have been called Finding Benjy! Benjy is the lost Graham brother who Matt, and especially Olivia had been trying to find over the course of the first two books in this series. Benjy's reunion with his family, after five years of being captive, was heartwarming and poignant.

On the other hand, the love story of this book's MC was cursory, kinda of sloppy, and sort of painful to read, even while it still held a unique charm. The hero and heroine were adequately characterized separately. Separately, they were at least intriguing, but together, their characters suffered and so did the romance. This is because the heroine was way more interesting than the hero(who seemed too tepid one minute and then miraculously %100 sure he about his love & future the next). The author dropped the ball on building their relationship more, which is something she did a better job of in book 1 & 2.
Another thing the author failed to follow through on was how Benjy came to be captive. It was great that he was found, but I was very curious as to what really happened the day he was taken on to how he got where he came to be. Putting it together from the last book and the bit of flashback that Benjy has in this one, I got the gist of it. However, perspective of this major conflict is never achieved.

Yet, the gang that is the Graham family are all included, with some specific characterization of certain siblings who we know will get a story soon.

The thing is...I like these characters as a family. When they are together, it's great. With this theme of family struggle, heartache and togetherness, the dropped in sex scenes and attempt at eroticism is kind of out of place. This was especially apparent in this story. Nevertheless, the potential is still there for this series.
