Climbing Stories

Confession: Sometimes, I pick up books on book stands in libraries, at Barnes and Noble,etc. I give them a quick scan/skim read, a technique in which I read beginning chapter(s), predict plot action, flip through to juicy parts and gloss over the end. (BTW...Anyone else really good at gauging plot points because you know the formula already ? (LOL)

Anyway, I wasn't sure about this series. I love Feehan, but I am picky about my PNR genre, so in trying out her Drake Sisters series, I found it was a total bust for me, and I am still trying to get into her Leopard series, but I keep putting it off. However, I just love the Dark Series to pieces! So I tried the GhostWalker series. Yep, did my scoping it out technique and went straight to book #4 (this one!) because skimming other plots in books #1-3 just didn't catch me.

Yet, this one did and I could tell it had potential...I was right. It was awesome: great alpha hero, strong brother bonds (Some POV from both bros who are psychic(inner conversations), traumatic back-stories and great chemistry among the characters.

The hero is Jack Norton. He is bossy, protective and hotter than Hawt! His sweet heroine, Briony, is a good match: slightly submissive, quietly strong and very loving (which is needed for Jack and his brother Ken). It follows a formula, but the characters lightly cling to you so that you react to them. Good characters can do that:)

As for the others in this series....meh, maybe, if I can give them a chance despite my first impressions, but I do trust my instinct most of the time. I read the reviews:)

The problem with series writing is that it can get too formulaic, so I stick with and choose to read the books in a series that have characters that excite me the most, unless I am addicted to the author. Guess I am only half-addicted to Feehan, except when it comes to the Carpathians! LOL
